Smoking Cessation

The dangers of smoking inspire many people to try to stop smoking  — we all know that smoking is a dangerous, even a deadly habit that kills more than 6 million people per year. What in your life stops you from quitting smoking? Stress? Your social environment?  Peer pressure? Maybe that cigarette has been a good friend to you — been there through the good times and the bad times. Perhaps it has been the one sure thing in your life to bring relaxation, satisfaction, relief from boredom, some pep in your step when you’re feeling down or tired. But would you ever let a friend treat you so poorly? Would you let a friend control you, take your money and feed you poison? Are you not tired of tobacco controlling you while pretending to be your loyal and trusted friend?

Motivation is key to your success. Without motivation, no attempt to change will be successful. Do you want to breathe clean fresh air instead of coughing and choking as you light up that next cigarette? You can have fresh smelling clothes, hair and breath once again. You won’t reek of cigarette smoke any longer.

Think about the cost of the health care you may need if you continue to smoke. Smoking is the leading cause of multiple cancers, increases your risk for heart attacks, strokes, lung disease, and other health problems, including bone fractures and cataracts. Think also of the cost of an average pack of cigarettes in North Carolina at over $5.00 per pack. Think of the money you could save and what you could do with that extra money in your pocket

The real challenge is to break the habit.

Although nicotine is addictive, it is the easiest physical withdrawal of any addictive substance. Your body actually goes into withdrawal by about the third or fourth hour. Think about it, you can easily sleep through the roughest part of the physical withdrawal. After the first week, the physical symptoms of withdrawal subside.

Many people use nicotine replacement therapy to beat the chemical habit but it does little to break the behavior habit of smoking. You can learn to break that automatic habit of lighting up. Hypnosis is a powerful method by which to change patterns of automatic behavior. Harnessing the power of your subconscious mind through hypnosis will make it much easier to stick to your plan and reach your goal.

Discover how to kick the habit with new positive ways of approaching old habits and make the shift to becoming smoke free.
